Research associate is sought to participate in effort to study conformational dynamics of functioning receptor proteins and protein folding using single molecule spectroscopy.

Seeking physical chemistry PhD with strong analytical, quantitative, and problem-solving skills.
This highly motivated candidate will work in a collaborative, multi-disciplinary environment.
The candidate should be familiar with current developments in the field of protein folding and conformational dynamics.
There is a possible opportunity for involvement in a start-up company for entrepreneurially-minded candidates.

Responsibilities will include:

  • Site-directed mutagenesis
  • Protein expression and purification
  • Preparation of fluorescent bioconjugates
  • Characterization of labeled protein structure
  • Bulk protein folding kinetics
  • Single molecule fluorescence of labeled proteins

Additional experience is desirable in areas such as:

  • Confocal microscopy
  • Protein NMR
  • Circular dichroism
  • Infrared and/or resonance Raman spectroscopy of proteins
  • Atomic force microscopy
  • Ultrafast spectroscopy
  • Microfluidic mixers
  • Stop-flow kinetics
  • Temperature-jump methods
  • C++ programming
  • LabView development
  • Bayesian statistics
  • Single molecule methods
  • Expertise using Igor Pro, Mathematica, MatLab, and LabView
  • Information Theory (Shannon-Jaynes and Fisher formulations)
